Welcome to the Bungil Shire Council's web site.

Bungil Shire is located in the Maranoa area of South West Queensland. Bungil Shire services and area of 13,302km2 covering the following roughly rectangular area:-

150km north of Roma
 50km south of Roma
  40km west of Roma
   22km east of Roma

The administration office of the Shire is located in Roma.

Injune is the main town in the Shire with Muckadilla also located on the western boundary. The Shire office is located in Roma, whilst administering the predominantly rural area around Roma. Bungil is referred to as a 'donut' council, with Roma being the area in the middle.

It is a rich agricultural area with great landscapes throughout but particularly in the northern areas.

Stay in Injune, the base for your Carnarvon experience, on your meandering to or from the National Parks.
